After a rather eventful month in the Big Apple, Bronte has returned home still full of smiles and cheekiness. She underwent four procedures to correct the numerous hemangiomas that have hounded her since birth. To compliment her angelic smile, Dr Waner's skill and magic have given our little Bronte a new nose and we now have two big beautiful blue eyes looking back at us.
Dr Waner removed a considerable growth from Bronte's back, the procedure taking over 2 hours. It proved to be the most challenging and difficult to remove as it was intertwined with her muscles.
The future looks bright for our Bronte. Even though she has limited usage of her eyelid, it may take as long as 6 months before we know if she needs any follow up treatment. We just need to wait for the associated scar tissue in her eye to soften for her to regain strength in the eyelid muscle before she gets that usage back.
Bronte won many hearts in the USA, with her beautiful smile and most of all resilient nature. She was constantly referred to as Dr Waner’s "little good will ambassador" . Only days after leaving the USA, we had already received emails from the staff saying how they already miss her and her smile.
Again a huge thank you to everyone who rallied behind our cause to help Bronte. It is a huge relief to be back in Australia and so reassuring that our family can now settle into some sort of normal routine without the weekly doctors appointments and follow ups etc.
